Can't Get No...Satisfaction
The famous, albeit, ungodly, rock band, The Rolling Stones, popularized that phrase.
That putrid, perverse band sang these words:
I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no...satisfaction.
Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever tried and tried and tried to find some satisfaction
in life?
Have you ever wondered why that song was so popular?
Those lyrics rang true for so many because of an emptiness in their lives. Because of a lack
in their souls. Because they were missing something.
What was it that they needed, but could not find? What was it that they desired, but could
not attain?
Look now into the Word of God.
Psalm 63:1
"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul
thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and
thirsty land, where no water is;"
So many are searching for a fulfillment for the emptiness in their soul. A longing for
something to fill the void in their life.
The Psalmist, David, felt that emptiness. David felt that void. He realized his need for
fulfillment that was not found anywhere else.
But, instead of turning to the worldly influences around him, he directed his searching toward
God Almighty.
Notice the first words he spoke.
"O God..."
The heart's cry reaching out for an intervention from another realm.
Sadly, most use God's name in vain rather than calling on Him in humility for deliverance.
The songwriter penned these words,
"Where could I go but to the Lord?"
Only from God do you gain strength. Only from God do you gain access to the throne room
of Heaven. Only from God do you realize a power greater than all the power of the enemy.
Only from God!!!
There is NO SATISFACTION in this present world. Not true satisfaction.
Yes, many say they are satisfied. But, deep inside the soul of that man or woman, is the soul
that God himself breathed into all mankind. And that soul is crying aloud for a reconciliation
with its Creator.
"My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee..."
My soul!!! My life!!! My heart!!! My everything!!!
The cry of man's soul is heard all around the globe.
From the darkest jungles of Africa, to the frigid regions of the Arctic, men, women, boys, and
girls all have the same hearts' desire...
Satisfaction.
Yet, so many are unable to find it. So many are unable to attain to it. So many are unable to
realize it.
Why?
They are seeking for it where it CANNOT be found.
David proclaimed the state of the world around him.
"...in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;"
A perfect description of the modern times you and I live in. This is the most god-less
generation that has ever existed.
Unborn babies killed without remorse. Homosexuality displayed and promoted in the public
arena. Sin rampant on our city streets. Prostitution glorified. Gambling in nearly every major
city.
My friend, where are you to find satisfaction? How are you to realize a life of satisfaction?
Satisfaction comes only when you no longer rely on you, and your reliance is only in the Lord
God Almighty.
Satisfaction was purchased on the cross of Calvary when Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself for
the sins of all men.
If you have tried, and tried, and tried, but cannot find satisfaction, you are looking in the
wrong place.
Turn to the foot of the cross. Run into the waiting arms of Jesus Christ. Rely on God.
Will you be satisfied? You choose.

salvation.)” (emphasis mine)
