Do You Have What He's Looking For?
Luke 18:1-8 states:
"And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to
faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And
there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor
regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual
coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God
avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell
you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he
find faith on the earth?"
Did you grasp that last question?
When the Son of man, Jesus Christ, comes, or returns to this earth, will He find faith?
That is the subject of this message: Do you have what He's looking for?
The text plainly reveals the heart of Christ upon His returning to earth. He is coming with
expectation. He is coming with hope. He is coming for a bride that is living the life of faith.
Faith. So much teaching and preaching on the subject. And yet, Jesus wonders aloud in
scripture if He will find faith when He returns.
Why must Jesus feel the necessity to ask that question?
Is the world so void of "Bible-faith"? After all, doesn't the Bible reveal that all are given the
"measure of faith"?
Yes...and...yes.
But, that does not satisfy the longing of Jesus Christ.
He is looking for faith, but not just the ability to believe, as so many teach faith to be.
Hebrews 11:1 defines faith.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Faith for the Christian could be defined with one word: Jesus.
I can almost read your mind. What do you mean by that preacher?
The faith Jesus is speaking of in Luke 18:8 is the evidence of Him in You.
Literal millions refer to themselves as "christians", but that does not make them a "Christian".
The spirit of Jesus Christ residing in the soul of man, ministering His love and grace to the
fallen, sinful nature of that man, is the evidence of faith in you or me. The spiritual redemption
accomplished by Christ's shed blood is the catalyst for mans' reconciliation with God Almighty.
So what is Jesus Christ really looking for when He returns?
You fully trusting in His sacrifice for sin, and your full acceptance in His will for your
subsequent life.
THE LIFE OF FAITH.
So, the question is: Do you have what He's looking for?
Is your life plainly showing evidence of Christ? If not, what are you going to do to correct it?
Let me show you one other truth.
There will be no "faking-out" Jesus when He examines your life.
Would you be easily convinced that a stranger's image in the mirror was actually your own?
No?
Neither will Jesus be fooled by those who say He abides with them, yet it's not His image He
sees in their heart.
Why not make today the day you realize a true relationship with Jesus Christ.
