Article Two:
God's definition of marriage
|
The institution of marriage is first addressed in Genesis 1 & 2.
Genesis 2:20b-25 states, "...but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the Lord God caused a
deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And
Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was
taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they
shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed."
Genesis 1:27 & 28 also states, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male
and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
Several key points can be gleaned from these scriptures.
1. The rib of "man" became "woman".
2. "Man" shall cleave unto his "wife".
3. They shall be "one" flesh.
4. God created "male" and "female".
5. God blessed "them".
6. God instructed "them" to "multiply".
One need not be a Bible scholar to plainly perceive God's intended plan for His creation Adam and Eve. The
Bible obviously teaches that it was always God's plan for a man and a woman to "be fruitful, and multiply...".
A very easy question to answer is this:
Has ever a civilization existed that was solely populated by one gender?
All male or all female?
The answer is obvious. No. And to go further, is it possible? No.
Quickly refer to your parents. Do you have two mothers? Or two fathers? No. It is absolutely impossible. This
point cannot be argued.
Simply stated, you or I would not exist if we were not created by the sexual union of one man and one woman.
Therefore, one must live in and rely upon totally illogical rationale to believe that God ever intended for two
men or two women to "unite" and become a "married couple".
Logic and common sense have evaded the mainstream media and worldview of multiplied millions of people
worldwide concerning this subject.
God instituted marriage for several reasons. He desired man and woman to unite to "cleave" to one another and
"be one flesh". This is speaking of intimacy and sexual union. Without becoming too graphic or detailed, one
must understand that the human body was designed for specific purposes. The male and female body are able to
"cleave" to each other and "be one flesh". They will "mesh". The physical bodies of two people of the same
gender will not "mesh". They were not intended to unite in this fashion.
The apostle Paul dealt with this subject in Romans 1:26 & 27.
"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that
which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one
toward another, men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of
their error which was meet."
Paul wrote that two women or two men uniting in a sexual fashion is "vile", "unnatural", and "unseemly". That is
straightforward and leaves little room for argument. That is because it is absolutely true. How can one argue
with nature?
Intimacy is the bond that is created when a man and a woman commit to the binding and lasting contract of
unadulterated Godly love. Commitment, humility, respect, unity, and monogamy are just a few key elements
found in a lasting love relationship consummated in marriage.
Marriage by God's definition:
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one
flesh."
A man and his wife. Simple.
Man should not attempt to define what God has already defined.
