Free at Last

The Apostle John quoted Jesus in chapter 8 verses 31-36, "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If
ye continue
in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They
answered him,
We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus
answered them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the
house for ever:
but the son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

Jesus said the truth can make you free.

If...you continue in his word.

If you go by...The Book.

We are true followers (disciples) of God if we live according to the Word. And Jesus said we shall know the truth, and
be made
free by that same truth.

You may be like the Jews of that day were.

They were not "in bondage".

You may think you do not need to be free, because you are not a prisoner.

My friend, let us examine scripture and know with a surety that we are not bound by anything.

Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:1&2, "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein time
past ye
walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now
worketh in the
children of disobedience:" (emphasis mine)

Before a relationship with Jesus Christ is established, man is at odds with Him. Man is not a child of God until he
comes to the
saving knowledge of Christ's plan of salvation.

Paul wrote that before a soul is "quickened" (brought to life), it is a servant of Satan (the prince of the power of the
air).

Recall the text, "Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin."

There is no escaping this truth, there is no way to use philosophy or science to disprove this truth of God.

A soul that has not accepted Christ, is a servant of Satan.

That does not sound very nice or appealing.

But, it is the truth.

If you do not serve God, you are serving Satan.

You may feel that that is a judgemental statement, but, my friend, it is the truth.

The old expression says that sometimes the truth hurts. Yes, that is correct.

It is high time you face yourself in the mirror of God's Word and look long and hard at the image you see.

Are you regularly found in prayer?

How is your church attendance lately?

When was the last time you studied God's Word?

What are you doing to prove to God that you are His servant?

A life of sin proves to Satan who his servants are.

Being free is a wonderful feeling.

Have you ever considered what it would be like to be in jail? Have you ever ridden somewhere with someone else
and then
wanted to leave but you could not because they were driving?

That feeling of being "stuck" is not fun.

That is exactly where you are if you are not living according to God's purpose and plan for your life.

Romans 6:16 asks, " Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye
obey;
whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"

In other words, don't you realize that if you are living a life of sin, in opposition to God's commandments, that you are
a servant
of that life?

Now, let me ask you this question.

Why would you want to be held prisoner by your own lusts and desires to do wrong?

You do not have to stay in that place.

Jesus came to give freedom.

Isaiah prophesied in chapter 61 verse 1 of Christ's purpose of coming. "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me
(Jesus), because
the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to
proclaim
liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound:"

Jesus said this same thing as recorded in Luke 4:18.

Why wait any longer for your freedom?

Why be bound by sin and Satan?

Let Jesus Christ make you free!!

II Corinthians 6:2 says,"...behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation.”  (emphasis mine)
