The Reality of Hell -- Posted 11/13/2006

My friend, the subject I am about to approach is a very unpopular subject in this world today. Many "preachers" will not even dare
broach the subject of...Hell.

Many in today's society will argue that there is no place called Hell. Certainly for many there is a hope and a wish that this is true,
that Hell does not exist. For if a real Hell exists, then many people are headed on a course directly to its pits. Why not try to
convince yourself that Hell is not there?

So many questions are asked concerning Hell.

For example, “Why is there a Hell?”

Let us turn to the Word of God for the answer to this and all the following questions.

“Why is there a Hell?”

You can see in Matthew 25:41 Jesus' teaching concerning the purpose of Hell.

"Then shall he (God) say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil
and his angels:" (explanation mine)

Hell was designed and created by God originally to house the devil and his angels.

To tell the truth, God never intended for a place such as Hell to exist, but when Lucifer (Satan) decided that he was going to do
things his way, God created Hell and cast Satan along with one third of the angels out of Heaven and into Hell.

You may ask, "What does that have to do with me?"

All who attempt to "exalt themselves above God" by:  disobeying His Word; doing their own things; even taking His name in vain;
are Hell-bound.

This is the purpose of Hell: to become the abode of the lost and those who have rejected God and His plan for them. That is the
reality of Hell.

Many ask, “Who goes to Hell?”

The Bible lists some examples of those who will be in Hell.

Revelation 21:8 tells you, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and
sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second
death.” (emphasis mine)

Simply put, many will be included in the number of Hell’s roll book. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13 and 14, “Enter ye in at the strait
gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat: Because strait is
the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (emphasis mine)

In other words, it is easy to go to Hell. The scripture said “many” will go the broad, wide way that leads to Hell. “Few” will find their
way to Heaven.

I Peter 4:18 asks, “And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?”

My friend, there is NO HOPE for the ungodly and sinner.

It WILL NOT be easy to go to Heaven.

It WILL be easy to go to Hell.

Do not do anything. Relax. Take it easy.

Sir, Ma’am, young man, young lady, Satan has tried to paint a glorious picture for you. Please do not be fooled by it. Your soul will
be required of you someday.

Hebrews 9:27 gives the warning, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Judgment, the reality of Hell.

Nearly everyone asks, “What will Hell be like?”

Jesus taught the environment of Hell.

Matthew 8:12 states, “But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing
of teeth.” (emphasis mine)

Matthew 25:46 says, “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”(emphasis mine)

Jesus was quoted in Mark 3:29, “But he that shall blaspheme (reject) against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in
danger of eternal damnation:” (explanation & emphasis mine)

John the Baptist taught about Hell in Luke 3:17, “Whose fan is in his (Christ’s) hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and
will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.” (explanation & emphasis mine)

Hell is filled with sounds and sights beyond the realms of man’s ability to reason. You cannot imagine even in your wildest
nightmares the actual realities of Hell. But, my friend, that does not change the fact that Hell is there. That Hell is real. That Hell is
Hell.

Many have asked, “Where is Hell?”

The importance of this question is not so much where Hell is, but actually, “Where will you be if you go to Hell?”

You see, Hell is a place of total separation from the presence of God.

Jesus spoke in Matthew 13:49 & 50, “So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from
among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” (emphasis mine)

And again in Matthew 25:32, “And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a
shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:” (emphasis mine)

Jesus also spoke in Luke 16:26, as part of the account of Lazarus and the rich man, “And beside all this, between us and you
(Abraham and Lazarus in paradise and the rich man in Hell) there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence
to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.” (emphasis & explanation mine)

There is no connection to God or the things of His kingdom in Hell.

Hell is a place of severing, a place of separating, a place of distance. No longer will your existence be acknowledged by God
Almighty.

In Hell you will be off God’s record book and it will be as though you never existed. The separating effect of Hell is almost
unexplainable, but it is reality. The reality of Hell.

With so grim a picture of Hell you may wonder if there is any hope for the lost, for the sinner, for the unprepared.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Hebrews 2:1-3, “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard,
lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience
received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first  began to be
spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” (emphasis mine)

Paul wrote the question so that you could be provided with the ultimate remedy to this “sin problem”.

“How shall we escape?”

The plan of escape was completed over 2,000 years ago when Jesus died on Calvary’s cross.

We “escape” when we “give the more earnest heed” to God’s word and the words of anointed ministers of the Gospel, and do not
“neglect so great salvation”.

Hell is real.

It is your choice to make. You must decide now what your destination will be.

Make the right choice.

II Corinthians 6:2 says,"...behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation.)”  (emphasis mine)
